Somebody needs to buy that homeless man some better clothes and he could really use a shave.

Wow what a rubbish comic! If you spend 5 minutes drawing what looks like crap, at least make it funny...

What is funny about a bus picking up Dan Dennett in a robe?

Too bad it wasn't a better slogan... it opens itself up to easy ridicule because it's WEAK.

"There is no such think as bad publicity"
That would be funny to see on a bus.

Oh, I see the humor now. They are both on the wrong side of the road and there's no door on the bus.

Unless it's one of those British buses. In which case, I fail to see the humour.

The joke is that atheists are bad at advertising.

If you don't get it, that means the joke is on you.

I think it's a pretty lame cartoon, actually.

"I think the joke is that the man at the bus stop is God... which is sortof cute I guess... "

It is a little clever as it points out the weakness/hole in the bus drivers philosophy/slogan.
'Probably' means that you still might meet him one day. I mean, what if god was one of us? Just a slob like one of us? Just a stranger at a bus stop with a slogan that denies his existence. (tryin to make his way home)?

Roughly how many people are likely to read that, then think "You know, that bus has got a point..." and start thinking before they accept things without question? I mean, if you get converts to atheism by using a slogan like that on a bus (it IS a genuine advertising campaign in the UK), are they REALLY top-notch converts?

I hate this comic for reminding me of that terrible Joan Osbourne song.

"Just a stranger on a bus"

Now it's going to be stuck in my head. I'm going to have to go all Pi on myself.

Funny...

I gave a homeless man at a bus stop some Halloween candy yesterday while wearing my Out Campaign shirt.

The fact that my shirt had the words "The God Delusion" on the back didn't seem to keep him from saying "Oh, candy! That's awesome!"

This would be funnier if God was waiting at the bus stop on a Sunday. The caption would read "There's probably no bus..."

liberalartist's Avatar Comment 21 by liberalartist

Its a lame cartoon. But it also means people are talking about it and God Fearing Atheist is right, its good publicity. I like the slogan because it isn't aimed at people who have declared themselves atheists, it is aimed at the many more who need to hear that it is okay to think those thoughts they were thinking in church the other day. That we can have a full and happy life without religion.

Now we need this campaign to come to the US, where it is much harder to speak out and say such things.

Because he was hung like this! (spread your hands out like jesus on the cross).

Mismos00:

BTW, Why do women love Jesus so much?

1) He's a virgin
2) He's the (first?) anti-hero
3) Inherited wealth, connected
4) He fits whatever fantasy you want
5) He's a virgin

EDIT: I just read the punchline, MHA

Unfunny...
I suppose the point of this ad campaign is to put atheism into public conversation and add to the cognitive dissonance of the religious.
