Well... there's always an option to DL it first. Why the need to 'Copyright restrictions' the video? Watching it now anyway.

Yea, sadly Penn's YouTube channel was a few months ago restricted to U.S citizens only by his nazi production co. Crackle. Maybe he doesn't know anything about it - I can't imagine he'd approve. Ah well.

Sadly, I wasn't able to make the lecture because I had class.
My girlfriend, however, snuck right on in and managed to get me a signed copy.

I believe they call her type a "keeper".

Thanks Drool. I'm going to have to spread Blasphemy Day at work like I did Talk Like a Pirate Day.

As for Penn, I met him at TAM this year and he comes across as a genuinely nice person. He is however, deeply parochial and what he says about airport security is dangerous nonsense.

I was fortunate enough to see Richard Dawkins speak in person last night in Toronto, and get my copy of TGSOE signed.

Richard Dawkins trying to find a polite way to point out the silliness of someones irrational beliefs (in response to a question about Francis Collins being appointed director of the NIH) is far more devastating than most others direct assaults. I also took away the phrase "religious proclivities" which I shall have to use in a suitable context.

The Ray Comfort/banana man impersonation was hilarious and just goes to show how corrosive humour and satire can be to bad ideas.

Glacian's Avatar Comment 26 by Glacian

Happy Blasphemy Day! This day has been long overdue. To those who may object to "intentionally offending religious people" or who see this as a crude act, keep in mind that there are laws actually telling people that religion deserves special protection from criticism. This isn't about merely getting our jollies off giving religion a hard time, it's about breaking down the "belief in belief" barrier, as Dennett so aptly describes it, that gives religion special immunity from criticism: particularly immunity that desensitizes the world to the, to put it mildly, inappropriateness of Muslims getting so damn outraged about insults against their religion.

Their religion DESERVES to be insulted. If their ideology, in all its sexist, vile glory weren't propped up on the back of superstition and magic, nobody would think twice about calling it what it is: a vile blight on the world.

I thoroughly dislike this idea of 'blasphemy day'.
It is immature, needlessly offensive and counterproductive.

I have a lot more to say on this matter but I am pressed for time as I am currently finishing my latest piece of performance art.

It consists of the visage of Mohammed tattooed on a pig's behind in such a fashion that His mouth is placed where the piglet's rectum is.
I will videotape the little oinker when it defecates and include an audio of the recitation of the Koran to accompany this visual.
