I don't trust people who can't get their lighting right. 'Homosexualist' ? A self-parody, I'm sure.

"...it's shocking that the Administration is focused on its ultra-liberal militantly homosexualist agenda forcing the highlighting of homosexuals and homosexuality on an unwilling military. This is the equivalent of the spiritual rape of our military to satisfy the most extreme and selfish cadre of President Obama's kooky coalition".

Thought it was the Onion when I read this. But it was a reverse-Poe.

You'd think that if us gays really did have the power to cause natural disasters, these people might be a touch more afraid of us than they currently are...

I wish I could smite my foes with tidal waves simply by having lascivious thoughts about Mitch Hewer, the penthouse suite of the London Hilton and a family sized Vienetta. Alas such abilities are entirely lacking, more's the pity. Is it just me who has missed out on the superpowers that being gay apparently entails?

You'd also think that, with their fondness for two-millennium old curiosities, these people might have heard of the Theban Sacred Band. Or some minor military nobody called Alexander the Great. Or, if you like something a bit less archaic, how about the sodding British military in 2010?

What's the point in wasting time correcting such manifest stupidity; it's not like we haven't had to do it a hundred times before. Let's just face it – these people are simply well and truly fucked in the head, irredeemable and fanatically dangerous. Didn't anyone bother thinking that before they sent the army after the Taliban, that it might have been a good idea to deal with this lot first.

Every city in the world has gays in it, all you have to do is pick a natural disaster out of a hat and say, "Gays did it!" and you got a winner in the religious communities of the world. Apparently, we need to convince god to rapture these idiots, too.

Did anyone see any concrete evidence in the article because all I saw was a bunch of bollocks? There is already open homosexuality in the U.S. Army. In any tight knit, cohesive unit something as obvious as sexuality is hard to keep secret. I was in for four years and we all knew who was gay but for the most part nobody cared as long as they were good soldiers and as it turns out being a good soldier has nothing to do with sexuality. Oh and it's good to see Jews being intolerant to a group other than Palestinian children. I thought they had lost their edge.

Wow the earth really does move when you guys do it!

The Rabbi is clearly missing the point. Power like this enhances our military capability. All we need to do is smuggle two gay special forces operatives into the area when Bin Laden is and they can bring down the wrath of God bang on top of him. Of course we need some research done to see which particular acts cause which kind of disasters. Perhaps we can save on gay operatives and equip remote controlled drones with gay porn.

I've given it 1 star (I wish 0 was an option) and left a comment under an account not named after me. My comment is just short enough to post in 1 block, and that clue will help any eagle-eyed person identify who I am on YouTube. For now, let's just say that, if my argument isn't persuasive, polite, such as to render them "burned" etc., then nothing else.

...pleading with G-d not to visit disaster on the city of N.Y. We have seen the underground earthquake, tsunami, Katrina, and now Haiti. All this is in sync with a two thousand year old teaching in the Talmud that the practice of homosexuality is a spiritual cause of earthquakes. Once a disaster is unleashed, innocents are also victims just like in Chernobyl.

Give me just a moment here.
HaHaHaHaHaHaHa...(catches breath)...HaHaHaHa!
"We plead with saner heads in Congress and the Pentagon to stop sodomization of our military and our society."

"Saner" = "circumcised"?

"Chosen people" indeed.

Well, all those who are against open gays in the military should go and enlist to make up for the decrease in numbers. Otherwise, they should STFU.

keithapm's Avatar Comment 17 by keithapm

This begs the question: Which came first, the earthquakes or the gays? You could say earthquakes had been happening for billions of years before humans but then these people probably think humans were on the earth from day, what was it, six?

I wonder if they've done any "scientific" studies of this such as the correlation of homosexuals and homosexual tolerance with the area and magnitude of disaster. What about bisexuals? Does my presence in Ireland increase the likelihood of an earthquake in Ireland? It's pathetic.

Makes you wonder why we bother. There's no argument with these people. It'd be funny if there weren't people who took this stuff seriously.

This has to be one of the more entertaining articles I've seen in years! Not only was the initial article chock-full of homophobic religious bigotry with not the slightest attempt to 'tone it down', but the comments here are absolute gems.

#5 - " ... the sodding British military in 2010?" - Brilliant!

#8 - "Every city in the world has gays in it, all you have to do is pick a natural disaster out of a hat and say, "Gays did it!" and you got a winner in the religious communities of the world." You hit the nail on the head.

But my favorite is #10 by mmurray: "The Rabbi is clearly missing the point. Power like this enhances our military capability. The Rabbis are right: “The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.” (The God Delusion, Chapter 2, p. 31)

Waitaminute. Does this guy actually speak for ONE THOUSAND RABBIS? I thought rabbis were supposed to be the sharp ones among the clerics of the world?

Wot is 'spiritual rape'? 'Of the military'? Are we to understand that hard-bitten square-jawed jarhead Yankee marines would go whimpering to their superiors about being 'spiritually raped'?

And this guy fears "the [vanishingly unlikely] reinstatement of a compulsory draft". The effect of which would be, I suppose, to create a military whose personnel were a representative cross-section of the population. That is to say, ooh, 5 or 10 percent gay? Looks like the poor rabbi is doomed either way. I'm raping him in spirit even now. :)

Pretty much, but there is an interesting proactive element to it as well.

Next time something bad happens, they will be able to counter the 'Why did god allow this to happen' question not with waffling about 'mystery' but instead with a loud, ringing 'told ya!'

Bonus.

I was thinking exactly the same! So much hate and loathing for nothing.

It is always funny how the religious manage to set their priorities straight. Although it is much more frightening that a large part of the american population really thinks homosexuality is the main force of evil in the world. With that in mind it is easy to understand how they can vote twice for a moron like George Bush. For them it does not matter if the administration is dragging the economy down the drain. The important thing is that they are good christians with good family values...
