Actually, it's all those people, mostly men, who sport mustaches, that should do the apologizing. That's what did it.

But wait. Could the ghastly deeds Hitler and Stalin perpetrated have anything to do with the social and political circumstances in which these two men, both having suffered severely troubled paternal upbringing, were raised?

No, it was definitely the mustaches.

I often wonder what the death toll had been, were Stalin and Hitler both out and out religious nuts. What with the mustaches and all.

You do know, right, that those legions of men at those Nuremberg rallies were Christians with 'god with us' imprinted on their belt buckles?

You do know that right? Right?

Um......

This isn't quite so much a matter of "religion poisoning everything" but F-face Bill Donohue is partially responding to. No as much of a generality, as a specific:

Elderly crazed pedophile vergins engaging in and enabling child rape.

No other Christian demonination on Earth engages in as much priestly child rape as the Roman Catholic Church.

If you conspire to cover up the abuse, you deserve to go to jail.

If you fail to stop abusers from abusing by allowing them to stay, or to move them from place to place, you deserve to go to jail.

Bill Donahue's S-for-brains F-face rantings cannot change the facts on the ground and what has happened. His "pope" is responsible for enabing mass abuse, and his "pope" is responsible for continued long term human suffering and pain - and thus, so is F-wad Bill Donahue - with all due respect to Mr. Child-Rape-Enabling Bill Donahue and Mr. Child-Rape-Enabling crazed elderly virgin Ratzinger.

Saying all atheists are at fault for communism is like saying all theists are at fault for Islam. Stupid moron! He doesn't even get the comparison. Atheist is to theist not Catholic or communist.

I think that, to the average catholic reader, the truth doesn't really matter; The Catholic League just serves the purpose of feeding the chauvinism of its faithful readers. It's the hormones produced by the feeling of belonging to a group + fear hormones. Most cults base their ideology in the chauvinistic mentality.

Tyler Durden's Avatar Comment 25 by Tyler Durden

Catholic League president Bill Donohue... has just posted a demand that atheists apologize for Hitler. And not just for Hitler... the 67 million innocent men, women and children murdered under Stalin, and the 77 million innocent Chinese killed by Mao. Hitler, Stalin and Mao were all driven by a radical atheism, a militant and fundamentally dogmatic brand of secular extremism.

It's been quite a while since I've seen the phrase used here on RD.net, and my apologies to Irate (and the Moderators), but Bill Donohue is a fucktard! No two ways about it.

Well done Bill, keep up the good work, you're doing a heck of a job.

Popes are infallible they don't need to learn history or facts! Peace and love to our fellow man!

Ur It was the nasty secular authorities who went around burning people at the stake during the inquisition! Nothing to do with Catholics then!

Hitler couldn't have been accepted as a Christian in Germany for years ???? Could he??? Blame the atheists.

Perhaps someone needs to remind this man that Communism is founded upon irrational dogma as much as religion is. You might as well call it a quasi-religion. Could Bill Donohue provide any evidence to suggest that it was the irreligion of Stalin or Mao that led them to their actions? Evidence and reason can of course show that irrational adherence to Communist dogma led them there.

Methinks this man is an idiot.

Emergency order for fresh shovels... Catholic hole-diggers running out!

Yes - alembic, noun, chemical apparatus used for distilling. So if I apologise for Hitler I get to turn into two glass jars connected by a tube. Wow. Who are these fuckwits?

I liked:

By contrast, a grand total of 1,394 were killed during the 250 years of the Inquisition, most all of whom were murdered by secular authorities.

This is a bit economical with the truth: the Inquisition condemned the entire population of the Netherlands to death (a sentence not wholly successfully carried out, but there were some 2,000 executions to try to stem the tide of Protestantism). The Spanish Inquisition alone is widely reckoned to account for 3,000 - 5,000 deaths (the true figure will never be known, the records are incomplete and it is fatuous for Donohue to suggest a precise figure like 1,394). Running alongside the Spanish Inquisition were the Roman Inquisition and the Portuguese Inquisition, all successors to the Medieval Inquisition....

The express purpose of the Inquisition was terrorism:

A 1578 handbook for inquisitors spelled out the purpose of inquisitorial penalties: ... quoniam punitio non refertur primo & per se in correctionem & bonum eius qui punitur, sed in bonum publicum ut alij terreantur, & a malis committendis avocentur. Translation from the Latin: "... for punishment does not take place primarily and per se for the correction and good of the person punished, but for the public good in order that others may become terrified and weaned away from the evils they would commit."

Donohue also conveniently overlooks for instance the Albigensian Crusade, where the body count attributable to the Papal horde is reckoned to be between 50,000 and 100,000 - and there are many more such examples of "Holy" war deaths.
