The catholic church is not interested in humans or human wellbeing.

It is interested solely in an imaginary god, an imaginary soul and equally imaginary rules how to placate the former and protect the latter.

At best, they can offer "strategies" how a person can best strive for "mundane" health and prosperity without endangering his "soul" or invoking god's displeasure.

That is why religion is more than a harmless belief, more than a purely "spiritual" matter. For those who believe in it, it means a shift in priorities, from real concerns - like the health and very lifes of countless men and women suffering from aids - to arbitrary, superstitious matters that have no meaning beyond their fake context.

The further up the religoon tree they are, the more distance they have from integrity; as a general rule of course. Deception is blood in the veins of their reasoning.

Ah, the Holy Roman Catholic Church, combining their understanding of science with their ability to con, in order to maintain their stranglehold on the importance of conscience in serious health issues. "Catholic health resources": is that the Rhythm Method?

education of consciences and mobilization of Catholic health resources for patients.

More irresponsible rants from the pedophile protectorate.

“When responsibility for one’s own behavior is affirmed, in fact, there is greater awareness of the connection with the rest of the community and greater sensitivity toward those who suffer,” he said.

Talk about hypocrisy.

If even one avoidable AIDS death, anywhere in the world, is attributable to Catholic dogma, then Catholicism is a busted flush, it's pro-life credentials lie in tatters, and it is not a relgion worth detaining an intelligent person for even a nano-second.

I happen to believe it is however responsible, at least in part, for millions of such deaths.

And that gives Catholicism a body count substantially higher than, say, Satanism.

So you don't need to be intelligent to reject it. Even an idiot can do the maths.

Only the insane remain...

What in the world does the Vatican have to do with an international conference on AIDS? They should have no place at that table. Clearly they have nothing to contribute.

I read in the "Independent" today that a number of delegates at the conference are very outspoken in their advocacy of condom use to prevent AIDS. So I'm in two minds here. On the one hand, it may be a good thing to have a few voices of reason speaking on this issue at the Vatican. On the other hand, I just don't trust their motives: I'm pretty sure that, when the conference is done and dusted, we'll see Vatican spin using the conference to bolster its pre-conceived (no pun intended) stance on the contraception issue.

Back in 1985, in my senior year of high school, I knew a Catholic couple who used the rhythm method of birth control. The child they had together is 25 years old now. The couple broke up in 1986. In developed countries the Catholic church's influence can be relatively innocuous. In Africa, it's influence kills millions.

Of course, the ban on contraception is partly designed to maximize the numbers of the faithful. However, every time a Catholic dies of AIDS for lack of a condon because they've been lied to, the church loses a member. Perhaps this should be pointed out to popie pants.

It is crystal clear that this is not a conference to discuss effective and humane tactics against the HIV/AIDS disease...it is so the Jesuits can twist arms behind the facade and threaten ex-communication to anyone promoting condom use as a major preventative.

I have a suspicion that Jesuit funding will be removed and any local co-operation from any charity in the field that even touches the idea with a long bargepole.

Nah! is not the responsible reaction to the crisis by calling a conference that they are spinning in the media...it is to threaten, whine , stamp footsies, pout, curse and take out their frustration on the nearest choir boy's arse! .they have absolutely no intention on being helpful at all!

They are going for a body count to eclipse the third Reich, Benny sees it as a challenge!

I'm not holding my breath. First they infect the whole continent with their misogynist faith (gleefully embraced by men eager to 'spread the seed') that enhances superstitious idiocy, then they create the genocidal conditions by preventing practical, life-saving medical knowledge that's common sense to practice . . . at least considered common sense by people that appreciate the one life we've got, and don't focus all their energy on the nonsense of some promised afterlife for being good Catholic, condom-less AIDs martyrs.

It is probably resorting to anal intercourse (due to not having condoms) as a method of contraception that is responsible for the prevalence of aids.

But then we know condoms are against the will of god because they permit recreational sex and it is necessary to suffer (Aids being a particularly exquisite form of suffering) to go to heaven. The fucking Poop says so, so it must be fucking true.
