Ridicule hits the target where it hurts : their dignity. There are occasions when this is the best tactic.

Let the women migrate to western countries and let the men stew in their misogynist misanthropic bile

Would this cartoon be viewed as blasphemy punishable by death? As much as humour is necessary, without organization, it won't change the minds of the god-bots in power. And how many satirists are there with that kind of courage? Not nearly nearly enough would be my first guess.

I really feel sorry for the people of Afghanistan. After we pull out, the Taliban, or their equivalent, are going to regain power and this kind of opposition will never happen again or it will be severely punished. I am with Rtambree, except not only just the women should migrate, but every other person who has tasted the sweet nectar of freedom and decadence as well and loved every ounce of it.

Is there an opportunity to set up a new social network site?.....burkabook....facebook is already known colloquially in Northern Ireland as bakebook, near enough I'd say....I see a niche.

I see humor as a surgical strike that targets only false dignity. Their basic human dignity is left intact, but they don't notice it because they don't pay attention to it.

A related note to this and another article on RD.NET... In 2009 Hamid Karzai signed a bill that made legal child marriage and prevented women from claiming property rights in any marriage among other things. Only under international pressure did he make any attempt to reverse his course on the issue.

here's a quote

In late March 2009, Afghan President Hamid Karzai signed into law an internationally condemned "Shia Family Law" which condones apparent spousal rape (in Article 132), child marriage and imposes purdah on married Afghan women. Although the offending legislation is said to have been dormant for a year, President Karzai was trying to gain the support of Afghan northern Shia legislators and the neighbouring Islamic Republic of Iran, which is Shia-dominated. According to Britain's Independent newspaper, the 'family code' was not read in the Upper House/Senate, and also enshrines gender discrimination in inheritance law and divorce against women

Thanks aroundtown. I would like to see the roles reversed, see how they like that.

A bit of a borrow from the cartoon provided. I like the colour. Might start doing coloured ones.

It was apt and fit for purpose enough for the occasion...."Don't worry, you'll be fine" was the title.

'Why not just banish all the women to another country?--problem solved.'

Or, even better, how about dirty-minded Muslim men being forced to wear blinkers in public? A bit of decent hair gel, and all they'd have to do is brush their beards upward at either side. Problem solved!

If there's any hope at all for these Islamic hell holes, it's the youth. I know that's not very profound, but it's all I have today.

I'm down with that. What western country wouldn't want more women?

All joking aside, the ethos of the Abrahamic religions is so transparent. Their fixation on human sexuality and personal lives is so easily explained as a doctrine to militarize a society back when total war was a concept hard to achieve.

  • Homophobia: gay people aren't very fecund. Need more warriors.

  • Contraception: want higher birth rate for more soldiers.

  • In-group/Out-group factionalism: humans have problems killing each other. Need some justification to get people willing.

  • Marriage conventions: need a stable, indoctrinated environment to indoctrinate the kids.
