This is really wierd to me. My grandfather was a Chassidic Rabbi. My mother, and both her sisters went to college. So I'd have to say that it depends on the Chassidic sect. Another possibility is that they've gotten worse since my mother went to college in the 50's.

I'm glad an organization such as this exists, but sad that it's necessary. Just say "no" to religion.

I note that one religion not mentioned by Footsteps is Islam. Perhaps because they don't want the blood of "honour killings" on their hands. Lucky Channa was an hasidic and merely ostracised by her family unlike poor Shafilea Ahmed of Warrington UK who was suffocated by her parents (I should add "allegedly" as I think the trial is continuing) for among other crimes wearing 3/4 length trousers.

There are also less Muslims in the US, of course.

And yes, best not to use rumours about ongoing trials as evidence.
