There's no denying that this book should be available to purchase freely, by anyone, should they choose to but my point is that the book shouldn't be purchased just for the sole fact that you're standing up for free speech.

Agreed, write the publisher a letter of support, perhaps even look through his books for something you like but normal market forces need be allowed to determine if the book in question is any good or not.

This is somewhat reminisce of protest votes in elections, they just skew results usually in a very negative direction.
