To be blunt: if they try that kind of tactic in an international forum, then Turkey's much vaunted secular status is dead, and probably has been for years. It had to happen, anyway, since a state should reflect the will of its people, and 99% of the people in Turkey are Muslim. I doubt that Obama has "permanently alienated" the French, though - I think they get that Obama is still finding his feet on the international stage.
