In qualifying this to "religious fanatics", you turn it into a tautology, near enough. And don't think it's only the abrahamics that have fanatics. (Hindus, Sikhs... Amritsar?)Of course religion facilitates and licenses abusive, ignorant and malicious behaviour, but generalising about whole populations is inaccurate and unhelpful.
