It's kind of important to remember that these people are steeped in a system of thought where the logic of cause and effect is suspect, and the greatest harms to a person are "spiritual" as opposed to physical. In fact, they violently reject the notion that physical harm is important, labeling such thought as "materialist."
It's really good, I think, when statements make this divide so clear. If you care at all about anything in the physical world (or as I would put it, anything that exists), religions that reject the importance of the physical are going to screw you, sooner or later. It's in their nature.
