Religion and Atheism are about as antithetical as you can get!
The only way you could bridge the two, is if you indulge in massive cognitive dissonance - that is, studiously ignore all the points of difference between these views.
You cannot say "I believe in God" and at the same time say "I do NOT believe in God"
Do you see?
EDIT:
If you actually mean
"You can bridge religion with the theory of Evolution"
or
"You can bridge religion with the theory of Gravity"
or
"You can bridge religion with the Germ theory of disease"
Then yes, many people, including scientists, can and do.
But this is not what AC Grayling was discussing.
