Are you three steps behind us Steve, or three steps ahead?
1) She misunderstands RD's position on what "Religious studies" should be taught.
2) She thinks his smallpox virus joke was counterproductive.
I think she is wrong on 1) and 2) is her opinion. I'm not a savy enough politician to predict if RD's attacks on religion will work in the long run. (I just find them amusing)
