My thoughts exactly. I guess todays anthropologists are too politically correct for such a straightforward explanation. I mean think how stereotypically 'cave man' that image is.
On the other hand a more roundabout scheme involving the 'peaceful female' taming the 'savage male' through sexual selection thus paving the way to civilization may be less parsimonious but at least the feminists are happy.
As a side note ever wonder why anthropologists seem to think our ancestors never used tools until the stone age£ Like they were all allergic to wood products or something.
