Speaking as a Viet Nam veteran who took an oath to defend the Constitution, (the same oath Hasan took), let me get in a few words. First of all, I think Hasan did what he did out of religious motives. Didn't want to help soldiers who were killing his fellow Muslims, afraid Allah would condemn him, etc. Having said that, I feel he should be given a fair trail and, if convicted, offered the following choice: life in prison without the possibility of parole, or a firing squad.
