What an asshat this bishop is! Though since he's a bishop, I am, like everyone else, not at all surprised.
Hitchens and others sometimes say things like (paraphrased) "at least the fundamentalists have some conviction in the nonsense they believe. And in a theological argument, they will win every time because they have the only source of authority in theology on their side." When I read the first statement the bishop made, I thought maybe he was trying to say something like that, but as he continued it became clear that no, he really did admire them to some extent. Hah.
