I think there is one mention of a monocle in that story where a painting of Bertie ends up being used as a poster ad all over London for Slingsby's Superb Soups. 'A Spot of Art'? Bertie mentions his image in the poster as having a monocle six inches in diameter. But it could've been added by the painter. More evidence required...!
