The pale blue dot was taken as one of 60 photos on February 14 1990. It took months for the images to be transmitted back to Earth because of a lack of available bandwidth. I believe the one of Earth did not finish arriving until April.
Voyager 1 was beyond the orbits of Neptune and Pluto, over 5 light hours away.
