I can't help feeling that a lot of people are missing a very important point.

It doesn't matter what a child's parents say about that child. If everyone else labels the child by the parent's religion, and views the child as being of that religion, then everyone's opinion about that child is now prejudiced. This will constraint the child's opportunities and guide how that child is treated.

It has nothing to do with the label being coincidentally correct or not. Sure, some children of christians will think of themselves as christian and grow up to be christian. When they are old enough to be considered independant and self-responsible then fine, take them at their word that they are muslim/christian/rastafarian whatever. Do not treat them as if they are before then.
