Some have pointed that out, and suggested that the sentence should have been harsher because of it. That's not the way she would see it however. She would think people sin, even the religious, so the commission of the crime is not altogether surprising, or deserving of extra punishment. As far as *re-offending* is concerned, though, she would expect his increased remorse (supposedly from his religiosity) to deliver positive results. I mean, that's what I think she'd think, if she *is* basing it on his religiosity.
