Thanks, now it makes sense. Blackford's often impenetrable (to American ears) accent reminded me of a time when Johnny Carson attended a reception in England and was put on by someone who was speaking pure gibberish but with a very convincing aristocratic accent - there was Johnny smiling and trying to be polite, pretending to understand nothing (like a typical churchgoer listening to a sermon, come to think of it)! Wish I could find a clip of this somewhere.
