The spirit of reconciliation is certainly much appreciated, but then we have come to expect nothing less of Richard. This graciousness is one of the things that many people here rightly admire about him.

Still, it is not much of an apology, really, when neither the admins' apparent gross misconduct and the shabby treatment of volunteer mods (i.e. the actual issues) nor any specific measures to prevent anything like this happening again are even mentioned.

"We have not communicated well" and "I take full personal responsibility" have been so emptied of meaning by politicians and CEOs that I wouldn't take either very seriously, absent the acknowledgement of specific mistakes and the concomitant pledge to implement specific measures designed to ensure they don't happen again. Unfortunately, Richard has so far offered neither.
