At a Mass in Rome's St Peter's Square, he said his faith would help give him the courage to deflect "petty gossip".

Yes, because the abuse and rape of children is CLEARLY JUST PETTY GOSSIP.

And his "holiness" is CLEARLY out of touch with his flock. The brass balls of this guy, really. That more Catholics aren't outraged at the betrayal of trust, noncomittal "apology", and downright tramping of their dignity because of this clearly corrupt heirarchy is just a damn shame. Still, if it inspires more people who have been abused to come out and say so, then so much the better. Let the whole world hear their righteous anger and pain.
