To me, the fact that this is an old article is not important. It has gained current relevance due to the subject matter having such a high profile at the moment. The RCC has been pathetically trying to blame everyone and his cat for their own crimes of deliberately harbouring the worst kinds of criminals. Some of their pathetic excuses such as the rapidly secularising society or internet porn simply don't stand up to the problem being around in the sixties and ealier.
I have also seen a you tube video that cites Vatican documents about child rape being issued during practically every period in the RCC's sordid 2000 year history. My apologies for not being able to provide a link at present.
