To get religion requires indoctrination - at least usually. To let go of it may be assisted by education but ultimately you let go of religion by figuring out that it doesn't make sense for yourself. I wasn't educated out of my faith. I thought my way out of it, independently.
I'd rather see efforts made to stop children being indoctrinated with the nonsense in the first place. I would be in favour of totally outlawing such atrocities as "faith schools", and I would even go so far as to make it illegal to allow people under a certain age to enter churches or other places of superstitious ritual. I'm serious. I think it's that important.
