Sean Faircloth:
Attack of the Theocrats!
"To get religion requires indoctrination - at least usually. To let go of it may be assisted by education but ultimately you let go of religion by figuring out that it doesn't make sense for yourself. I wasn't educated out of my faith. I thought my way out of it, independently."
As anyone subjected to a Gish gallop can testify, its a lot easier to assert wrong but seemingly consistent things than it is to debunk it. Especially if the original bit of indoctrination includes promoting a distrust of education and information that doesn't come from approved sources. I don't doubt you thought yourself out of it independently, but that only tells me you were capable of independent thought at the time. You can find numerous testimonials from ex-fundies who took years to reject some of the most inane arguments, because they had been conditioned not to.
