Belgium, by banning the burqa has removed the impotus for women to REBEL agianst the burqa of their own accord. All that an outright ban does, is to ally women with the clerical bullies that Christopher so detests. But I do agree with a ban in public places and so agree with the French position. It is perfectly sensible that drivers, nurses, people flying by air, etc should not have their faces covered. Everyone should be treated equally and therefore people should wear what they like in their free-time but not when in public institutions like hospital and airports.
I don't know why this issue is discussed so much. All sensible governments would adopt the French's current position. I hope they do not push for a total ban like the Belgians.
