We hear that quite a lot. My eldest (teenage) says 'homophobic' instead. Don't think it'll catch on, though - some schoolmates quite like the idea, but it's four syllables instead of one ....
On the other hand, the (state) school in question has at least one (very well-liked and respected) head of department who is out (and whose partner comes to some of the big school events), so at least there's a positive role model there.
