They really are in a bad way...watching the apologists squirm under all the scrutiny is bad enough...but when they are out rightly trying to offer some sort of a defence, half hearted or not, they are shooting themselves in the foot and making the case against themselves.
If they only had the wit to cut this old bugger lose, there just might be a church to salvage at the end of this all.
