My post above shoud make clear that I largely agree with you.
But in human psychology there is the problem of just how much choice females have had.
Even in chimpanzees the choice is to mate with the alpha male or a male who has been beating you up etc etc. Hence sperm compeition to do the choosing.
In humans we had more control of one male over one or more females but again, how much female choice is that? How early in our evolution did brothers and fathers do the mate choices?
