Churches are built with your taxes, too - so what will you tick in this year's census?

Uh - no they aren't.

Religious denominations fund the building and maintenance of their own churches and buildings. They get their money from voluntary donations, fund raising, fees, investments etc, but no state money.

For some denominations, whose numbers have shrunk, this is a problem as they then have less money to fund the buildings with, as even unused ones cost money. This is why some minor denominations - eg Church of Scotland - are currently trying to sell off lots of buildings.
