Yes, the repeated self-deprecating averments that the interviewer is a "simple" man who is not on Richard's level, but let's not overlook what happened here. On what must be the most blindly fundamentalist television station in the UK, a polite, respectful interviewer gave Richard ample time to expound his views. That the interviewer wasn't entirely comfortable was apparent. He seemed to bristle somewhat when defending against the charge of Jesus's ignorance, for instance. But despite that, despite the fact that Richard held none of his views back and treated none of the Christian beliefs presented with kid gloves, the interviewer remained respectful throughout. Contrast that with Bill O. I think we need more interviews like this.
