I believe that the campaign is a reaction to the previous census which reported a great number of people, who had no Christian beliefs at all, ticking the "Christian" box anyway. The point being that this, obviously inaccurate, result was a consequence of both the badly worded question and people not really thinking about it before ticking. As has already been mentioned, all the BHS are asking is that you think about it and fill in your census form accurately. The fact that some can find something negative to say about that says more about them than it does about those militant atheists.
