I forgot to say that science is not a belief structure, it is a non belief structure.
The most beautiful thing about science is that we want as scientists to be proven wrong.
The best example of this is a story told by RD about one of his tutors at Uni who had lived for 20 years with the knowledge that his theory was correct and accepted, only to have it proved incorrect by a visiting speaker.
And what was the reaction of his tutor to this dismantling of his theory…he thanked the speaker, because he would rather we knew the truth even at the cost of his own vanity.
As Mr Cox would say…that is why I love science!
