I had thoughts about establishing a registry of humans who would be willing to volunteer to undergo necessary medical-testing procedures in place of animals.
But I was forced to abandon the concept due to not gaining provisional assent from even one self-professed animal-rights supporter. And my requests extended to uni-students who were vociferously against any form of animal testing.
Paid volunteers are a dreadful non-solution, for reasons that have been listed elsewhere in studies, mainly that such a group rapidly becomes non-representative of any real-person if they make a career out of submitting as a professional "guinea-pig".
Is it time to investigate this idea once more?
