I am always struck when I hear religious people state that I (atheist) and others have a too simplistic view of religion. This is an attempt to imply that religion is complicated. It isn't. It's very simple, which is why it's believed and accepted, and even relied upon by the credulous, uneducated and vulnerable.
Theologians only exist so that capital has something to do. Give an academic a budget and a Bible and you have Theology.
