You talk about an emerging 'atheist support structure' with rules and sacrifices. Please elaborate. Is it global or are many stuctures emerging in various places ? And what are those rules and sacrifices ?

Is the article Tanya Smith states:

Atheism doesn’t offer a similar emotional support network. Accepting that the universe is disinterested in your well-being is not necessarily a source of comfort when things go wrong.

Well, the universe is also not interested in my 'ill-being', so when thing go 'wrong' I know I don't have to fight the 'Universe' (or the devil or god's wrath or 'gay's in the army' or whatever). I can focus on what went wrong. This comforts me immensely.

Tanya's call to support mr. Abgottspon got my attention. I voted.
