I have listened to Beck's radio show on a few occasions. His stated reason for becoming Mormon was that his daughter, who is disabled, liked the Mormon services that his family visited much better than the other church services that they had attended.
I personally believe that this admission by Beck marks him as being a charlatan rather than a fanatic. That's certainly not an improvement given the following he's able to gather.
