← Mormon Glenn Beck: Hurricane Irene and East Coast earthquake a ‘blessing’ from God

Not that I'm surprised that ignorant superstitious things come out of Beck's mouth, more that I've heard this silliness far too often.

We have a rather solid understanding of how weather works and how earthquakes happen, and they have nothing to do with anyone's deity of choice. This sadly echoes the notion that we're still huddled in caves just waiting to see what the mighty Sky God will do next.

Equally annoying is that the same people assume that science has control over these things, or believes that is has control. That we have the ability to track the patterns of the weather or have some indication that an earthquake is coming should in fact indicate an opposite reaction: This should be a reminder that without science, you wouldn't have even known it was coming. Control is the purview of religion.

You're welcome, Beck.
