This reminds me of, way back in the day, the blaster worm. It was a virus that was causing a lot of damage, enough that it made the news. I was listening to some talk radio program, and some dumbass said that this was a good thing, because it'll teach us to be more careful about viruses in the future.
Or, to paraphrase internet reviewer SFDebris...
"Thank you for punching me in the face to remind me to be careful about being punched in the face."
