I don't see how an atheist Scout can exist: it's an oxymoron. How can you promise to to your duty to God and the Queen every single time you meet?
With very few exceptions the global scouting movement is inflexible in its view that it is, fundamentally, a Christian movement and the Promise may not be secularised.
Give it up. Do Camp Quest instead.
I am strongly discouraging my kids from having anything to do with Scouts/Guides/Cubs/Brownies/Rainbows and the whole insidious underlying indoctrination attached to the movement (Church Parades etc).
