I wonder if (complex) tool making was not necessary in some society. These people might be able to live on natural food that they didn't have to make their own food or keep it in safe places.
If the woman and her son were taking shelter from a heavy rain that flooded the cave, I guess they lived independently from a society - or perhaps the father was going out for food. Otherwise, there should be other members of her kind - sheltering in the cave from rain.
As more findings are predicted, their lifestyle might be revealed.
I'm not concerned with the shape of her legs; more findings will give clear answer hopefully.
