Well, is Christi(ns)anity any better? The bible says that adulterers and homosexuals should be murdered, children who act up should be murdered (by stoning I believe; I don't feel like making myself dirty by looking it up right now). Christians don't currently carry out those acts most of the time, but it's in the sacred texts.
