Is Britain a secular country? I thought we were officially a Christian country with the Queen as the head of state and the head of the Church of England? I may be wrong though.

Britain is the opposite of America in this regard. America is officially a secular country, but is very strongly Christian in terms of the views of it's general public (unofficially). Whereas Britain is officially Christian, but quite secular unofficially. This means that when discussing whether the country is secular or not the right context needs to be highlighted. Yes, Britain might be officially secular, but it is difficult to argue that those Bishops belong in the House of Lords as of right (just because they are Bishops) when the majority of the country aren't even believing Christians.
