The last time I visited Male was in about 1985. I don’t recall it being particularly Islamised at the time, so I suspect much has changed, or, more likely, this is a typical rent-a-mob which does not reflect genuine popular opinion.
The islands are beautiful, and there’s damn-all else for the islanders to make money from apart from tourism (now RAF Gan has gone anyway), so sensible natives will certainly want to keep the lid on militant Islamism. Storm in a teacup I reckon.
