One small point, present day cosmologists and going forward into the short term future.
There is the internet, and various media storage for people to keep logs / blogs and diaries
So although the cosmologists of the future would be cut off from the past, they could still find out by researching what would then be ancient history.
They may blow off the cobwebs from Professor Cox's Wonder's of the Universe DVD, and be amazed
