When I think addiction, I think physical addiction. Yes, psychological addiction is something that happens, but people can become psychologically addicted to knitting. I'd like them to compare fmri data on people "addicted" to the internet with people who behave obsessively about anything. I'd say that people who obsessively play video games, role playing games, hell, even obsessive scrap-booking would have similar brain patterns when it comes down to it.
Addiction is a word that means something, and for me anyway, it's not simply obsessive behaviour that affects your life.
