My mother is currently having large swathes of her genome sequenced in a Cambridge study, in an attempt to identify the causes of lipedema. She's been told that there will not be a cure in her lifetime, but that the study may identify one in the future.
I'm sure you're absolutely right - but complaining about insurance costs is a luxury afforded by your not dying of whatever disease causes the price rise.
