I'm actually optimistic about Romney. Despite being from the most conservative sect in the country, he's no religious conservative, and any religiously-tinted language during the campaign has been an appeal to the Republican base. He'll drop that in the general election.

If the Republican Party can jettison its religious conservative element, that would go a long way towards making it a party actually worth voting for. Nominating and electing someone who isn't beholden to the religious right would be a big step in that direction. That, coupled with the fact that I don't like Obama, makes me plan to vote for Romney, come November.
