The American inability to focus on the 'hard' subjects while frittering its energy away on educational fluff, football, and religious foolery pretty much ensures that we will cease to be a significant factor in the future. The paralysis in government and the reluctance dream or act in large scales has destroyed unity, cooperativeness, and competitiveness. Balkanization seems increasingly likely.
I fear that it is too late for us... Save yourselves while you still can!
